About this initiative
Project O2, a Youth Expedition Project, is organised by a team of undergraduates from the International Service division of the Rotaract Club of Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.
Our team will be heading to Gia Bac Village (close to Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam, for a 2-week community service trip in December 2009, with environmental conservation and education as our main areas of focus.
Over the course of the trip, we will be conducting basic, conversational English lessons for students of a local school at Gia Bac Village. English is taught as part of the national curriculum and not only do we hope to teach English to the students, we’d also like to share with the teachers about teaching methods that will help to generate interest in the language.
Besides this, our team will also be planting saplings at a vacant land owned by the Vietnamese government and along the road leading to the school, so as to provide some form of shade for the students as they travel to and from school on foot.
